Admittedly, for now at least, my interest in Breitlings is pretty much limited to 1940's chronographs, particularly the ref. 170 series (models with caliber Venus 170 movements). So this thread was right in my very limited wheelhouse. Although I'm sure that the movement is a Venus 170 and I know that these were used by Breitling I'm a little more uncertain of if this is a genuine Breitling adaptation of the 170 as I can't find any markings on the movement pointing to Breitling.

I have a 1940's Breitling chronograph with a Venus 170 movement. The dial is the only thing marked Breitling. I don't have a photo of the movement as it is at my watchmaker's place right now. I've seen a few 40's era 170's chronos like this, with a signed dial but the movement and case are unsigned. Manufactured between 1942 and 1960, the Venus 170 was mass-produced out of the need for supplying a single chronograph capable of being dressed-up or dressed down and across all markets. The mid 1940’s catalog shows 60(!) chronograph models from up/down chronographs of the “Populaires” line with the Breitling-co-developed Venus 170 calibers to the most complex Rattrapante models of the Duograph family. This looks like the most common caliber that Breitling used at this time, the Venus 170.
as far as I know there were no Venus 170 branded Cadette, these were all in the 11xx line, Venus 170 was used in 1xx cases, most in ref. 174/176/178. there was(is) a seller in France who has(d) NOS ref. 176 cases.Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for Breitling Cadette Chronograph - Venus 170 - 18K Gold at the best online prices at eBay!
