I'm interested in getting a Seamaster Chrono which has a very faded (nearly no colour or markings left) bezel insert. Even some of the luminescent hour dots on the dial have been lost. Has anyone else had a problem with a badly faded bezel on a Seamaster pro 300, mine went very faint within a couple of years and that was not through excessive sunlight or diving etc, just everyday use in London. I think any alleged concerns about fading are due to the use of a metal bezel, as apposed to ceramic which is said to be impervious to fading, rather than any real world issues. Meaning, the bezel will fade eventually, but not for 10-20 years. They would also likely want to replace those faded sundial hands as well. The only other option is to hunt around for a used bezel on forums or EBay that is in better shape. But that will likely be more frustrating than it is worth in terms of savings.

I like the faded bezel insert, but I agree that the original watch posted above is a mess. Not only is it beat up, it been "refinished" and done improperly, so what you could do is buy a new, complete bezel, and then put the faded insert into the new bezel if you like the faded look.
