I've been starting to plan what's next and been researching a day date. My current collection consists of multiple SS and ready to plan and save for my next piece. What I've done so far: - Research the new Day Date 36 and 40. - Try on each to see how it feels. The two small holes are meant for replacement dial feet that you just slide in from above and glue in place. These are located for an ETA 2824/2836. If you use fairly thin paper, remove the rep overlay first and make sure its perfectly attached with no high or low spots because of uneven glue, then you should be ok. I did try an overlay on a ETA day-date rep and there was no way i could space the dial far enough to clear the datewheel and also still be able to attach the hour hand properly.
fwiw, i called Dallas RSC recently asking for a dial swap (prefer a lumed Day Date dial.) I was pleasantly surprised they said they would do so. A little "Ronson oil" will loosen the glue enough for the dial/movement to be seperated in the future if needed. However, for watches with date, the double sided tape doesn't work as there's not enough surface area on the movement for the . You possibly could but then the teeth alignment may be out so using an existing date wheel and laying the adhesive over it is easiest.
