Depends a bit on the model, some show marks much more than others. But in general, you don't ever want to rub a dirty, dry surface with any cloth. As others have mentioned, you can wash the watch and then dry it with nearly any clean cloth. Rolex metal seems to show more than any other watch I own. EVERY time I wear my Sub it looks dirty. I like to service my watches every six years if all is good it shouldn't be more than 800. Probably 7-800. Drop it off at an ad and let them ship it for you. Comes back as new and I don’t believe that I will ever feel the diminished resell price. My only Rolex is a DJ41 oyster with polished center links. On top of that I am a desk jockey so can feel you pain. This all comes with a 2-year warranty on the work performed.
